C-Cut Quick Release Drill
Setup two lines
• One at the top corner (from the end line perspective) that will start with the ball
• One on the side even with goal line extended
Execution:
1. Hitch and Move: The first player in the top corner line initiates the drill by making a quick hitch move, simulating a dodge to freeze the defender and create space.
2. Feed: Following the hitch, the player delivers a precise pass to the player who is cutting towards the ball.
3. C-Cut: The player receiving the pass executes a sharp “C” cut, curling towards the front of the goal to create a strong shooting angle. This movement should bring them face-to-face with the passer.
4. Catch and Shoot: The player catches the ball in stride, quickly turns, and releases a shot on goal, aiming for the corners.
Coaching Points:
• Quick, Sharp Movements: Encourage players to perform the hitch and C-cut with speed and precision to mimic game conditions.
• Accurate Passing: The pass should be crisp and lead the shooter into their shot, maximizing their chances of scoring.
• Focus on Finishing: Shooters should prioritize getting their hands free and finishing quickly, targeting the corners of the goal.
• Flow and Rotation: Rotate lines after each repetition to maintain the drill’s flow and ensure all players stay engaged.
Purpose:
This drill replicates realistic game situations, helping players develop muscle memory for executing quick decisions and precise movements under pressure. The goal is to enhance players’ ability to make instinctive plays without overthinking, leading to more accurate and confident shooting.
