This image shows the path of the ball and the players in the drill.

🎯 Purpose of the Drill

This drill is designed to help girls:

  • Practice moving the ball quickly across the field

  • Improve dodging and positioning

  • Master alley shooting while on the run

🧩 Drill Setup

  • Place three cones on the field:

    1. Low wing (with the balls)

    2. Top corner (transition point)

    3. Opposite wing (final dodge zone)

  • Sequence:

    1. The first girl dodges off a cone at the low wing and bounces out

    2. She passes up to the top corner

    3. That girl quickly moves the ball over to the opposite wing

    4. The third girl dodges off her cone and runs the alley for a shot on goal

🔁 Drill Progression

  • Begin with right-handed dodges and shots

  • After 5 minutes, move the setup to the opposite side and work on left-handed execution

  • Rotate goalies every 4–5 reps for consistent challenge

🧠 Key Learning for Girls

  • Communicate clearly and call for the ball

  • Use sharp angles and protect the stick during the dodge

  • Focus on control and placement during the alley shot

🛠️ Drill Variations for Girls

  • Add a light defender at the final cone for pressure

  • Use soft passes only or overhand passes to improve passing variety

  • Include a fake before the final dodge to teach deception

📣 Coaching Tips

  • Help girls move the ball quickly with minimal cradling

  • Reinforce selling the dodge to freeze defenders

  • Emphasize speed, communication, and confidence in finishing
