2-3-2 Triangle Offense for Beginner Women’s Lacrosse

Formation:

• 2 players positioned up top

• 3 players positioned across the middle

• 2 players positioned behind the goal

Rotations:

• When the ball crosses the goal line extended from top to bottom, the triangle rotates.

• When the ball crosses the goal line extended from bottom to top, the triangle rotates again.

Movement:

• If a player carries the ball, the adjacent player moves to the crease.

• The player in the crease fills the vacated position to maintain the triangle and space.

Benefits:

• Maintains consistent spacing and offensive balance.

• Creates passing lanes and clear opportunities for shots.

• Forces defenders to constantly shift and adapt, leading to potential mismatches.

The 2-3-2 Triangle Offense is particularly beneficial for beginner lacrosse players as it simplifies positioning while teaching spatial awareness. By consistently rotating the triangle, players learn to maintain space, create passing lanes, and develop a feel for team dynamics. The constant movement also helps to avoid congestion in the critical scoring area, making it easier to execute offensive plays. At the beginner level, this offense fosters teamwork, reinforces basic lacrosse principles, and introduces strategic thinking in an easy-to-understand format.
