King of the Field

Objective: The team that stays on the field the longest without being defeated will be the "king." Teams take turns challenging the winning team, and the losing team leaves the field.

Adapted Rules:

Number of Players:

  • Several teams of 3 to 5 players are formed (this can vary depending on the size of the field and the number of participants).

  • One team starts as the "king" and takes position on the field.

Match Duration:

  • Matches are short, lasting 3 to 5 minutes, or until one of the teams scores a goal.

  • If a team scores, the other team leaves the field, and a new team enters to challenge the "king."

Game Start:

  • Each match begins with a "face-off" at the center of the field, just like in a standard lacrosse game.

Rotation System:

  • The losing team leaves the field and gets ready for the next turn.

  • A new challenging team enters immediately.

  • If the challenging team wins, they become the new "king" and stay on the field.

Time Limit:

  • If no team scores within the set time (e.g., 5 minutes), the team that has controlled the ball the most (possession) or had more scoring opportunities remains as the "king."

Optional Scoring:

  • You can keep track of how many consecutive matches each team wins.

  • The team that stays as the "king" for the most rounds or the longest period wins the overall game.

Optional Modifications:

  • Field size: If you have fewer players, you can reduce the field to play on half the field or a smaller area.

  • Time limit: To make it more exciting, you can limit the maximum time a team can stay as the "king" to 2 or 3 rounds, allowing for more rotation among teams.

  • Penalties: If a team commits many fouls, they can be penalized with a temporary exclusion (power play).

Game Benefits:

  • Quick rotations keep all players active.

  • It improves competitiveness and teamwork.

  • It encourages ball control, defense, and quick attack—key skills in lacrosse.

  • It offers tactical variety by forcing teams to adapt quickly to different opponents.
