Passing, Controlled Reception, and Rotation Movement
Passing, Controlled Reception, and Rotation Movement
Objective:
The goal of this exercise is to improve passing, controlled reception, and communication within the team, while players practice continuous movement and rotation during the exercise. It is a useful drill for both beginner and advanced players, as it can be adjusted based on skill level.
Materials needed:
1 lacrosse ball
Cones or markers to define the passing zones
A rectangular area marked with cones (approximately 2x1 yards)
Exercise Description:
Player Distribution:
Organize the players into two lines, positioned opposite each other, with a distance of about 8 to 10 yards between them.
In the center of these lines, define a rectangular space (2x1 yardss) where one player will perform the control and pass.
One player from each line will have a lacrosse ball.
Starting the Exercise:
The exercise begins with the player from the first line (1) making a pass to the player in the opposite line (B) who is in the rectangular area.
The player in the rectangular area (2) must receive the ball, exit the rectangle, then pass the ball to the next player in line (2), and then move to the end of line (1) to repeat the circuit.
Meanwhile, the player in line A who made the initial pass quickly moves to the rectangular area to occupy space B.
Rotation:
The player who was in the rectangular area (B) now moves to the vacant line (line A).
The exercise continues with the same dynamic: pass, exit the rectangle, pass back, and rotate positions between the lines.
Repeating the Process:
The exercise should proceed continuously, with the player making the pass moving into the rectangular area while the player there performs the control and pass.
Variations:
Reduce the Distance Between the Lines: If players are still refining their passing and control, reduce the distance between the lines to make the pass easier.
Add Defensive Pressure: You can increase the difficulty by adding a defender to press the player who must receive the pass, simulating a more realistic game situation.
Key Aspects:
Precise Passing: It is crucial that the passes are fast and accurate so players can maintain the pace of the exercise.
Efficient Rotation: The rotation of players between the lines is important to keep the dynamic and continuous flow of the exercise.
Benefits:
Improves passing ability for both long and short distances.
Develops ball control under the pressure of constant movement.
Encourages communication among players and quick decision-making.
Enhances players' physical condition, as the exercise is performed at a fast pace.
Teaches players to make precise passes while on the move.
Recommendations:
Adjust the distance between the lines based on the skill level of the players. For beginners, it can be shorter, and for advanced players, a bit longer.
Ensure that all players maintain a fast pace to maximize the benefits of the exercise.
This exercise is ideal for integrating speed, ball control, and quick passing into training.
