3V2 Dynamic Scramble Drill Drill
Drill Setup:
Goal Placement: Position two lacrosse goals at the restraining lines, but have them face the end lines rather than the center of the field.
Player Lines: Organize lines of three offensive players close to each end line. Position lines of two defensive players off the playing area, on the sidelines near the midfield.
Drill Execution:
Starting the Drill: Three offensive players begin by running from their end line towards the goal, covering about 60-70 yards.
Defensive Entry: As the offensive players advance, two defenders enter the field from the sideline to engage them.
Goal Approach: The offensive players aim to navigate around the goal to the front to attempt scoring.
Defensive Strategy: Defenders must quickly adapt their positioning to challenge the offensive play, focusing on proper marking and stick checking.
Continuation and Flow:
Post-Shot Action: After a shooting attempt, whether a goal is scored or not, the goalie quickly passes the ball to one of the next group of offensive players in line.
Restart: This new group, along with two new defenders entering from the sidelines, repeats the drill, maintaining the fast-paced 3V2 setup starting from behind the goal.
Variations:
3V3 Option: For a greater challenge, add a third defender to create a 3V3 scenario, emphasizing defensive communication and coordination.
This adaptation ensures the drill remains relevant to the nuances of women's lacrosse, focusing on the sport's specific rules and style of play, such as the emphasis on non-contact defense and precise stick skills.
The goals of the 3V2 Dynamic Scramble Drill Drill adapted for women's lacrosse are to:
