key coaching points:

Passing and Timing

  1. Crisp, Accurate Passes:

    • Emphasize delivering passes with proper speed and accuracy.

    • Ensure the pass leads the receiver to maintain their momentum.

  2. Timing the Pass:

    • Player A should pass the ball early enough for Player B to catch in a comfortable shooting or dodging position.

    • Player B’s pass to Player C should be quick and precise to catch the defense off-guard.

Pick Mechanics

  1. Setting a Proper Pick:

    • Player A should set a stationary, firm pick without leaning or moving to avoid offensive fouls.

  2. Using the Pick:

    • Player B must run tightly off the pick.

Off-Ball

  1. Player C Positioning:

    • Player C should stay ready to catch with their stick up and body positioned to shoot.

Shooting Fundamentals

  1. Catch-and-Shoot Technique:

    • Player C should have a quick, balanced release with their stick in triple threat position.

    • Emphasize shooting form: step into the shot, hands away from the body, and follow through.

  2. Game Speed Execution:

    • Encourage players to shoot with urgency, as they would in a real game situation.

Rotations and Reps

  1. Keep the Drill Flowing:

  • Rotate players through all positions (passer, picker, shooter) to ensure well-rounded skill development.

  1. Encourage Creativity:

  • Challenge players to add their flair, like pump fakes or varying their shots (e.g., high-to-low, sidearm).
