Drill: Two-Line Running Passes

Instructions:

  1. Organize the players into two lines of 3 to 6 players, standing about 20 yards apart, facing each other.

  2. The first player in one line starts running toward the opposite line.

  3. While running, the player passes the ball to the first player in the opposite line, who is also running toward her.

  4. The player receiving the pass then passes to the next player in the opposite line, continuing the cycle.

  5. After passing the ball, the player joins the end of the line she passed to.

Variations:

  • Switch hands (alternating between right and left).

  • Perform over-the-shoulder passes.

  • Roll ground balls.

  • Add any other variations to focus on different skills.

Benefits:

  • Improves ball handling while in motion.

  • Enhances accuracy in passing and receiving while running.

  • Promotes player coordination and timing.

  • Works on quick transitions from defense to offense.

  • Strengthens communication and teamwork as synchronization is required.

  • Introduces variability in passing techniques (hand switches, long/short passes, ground balls).
