3V2 End Line Scramble Drill

Engage and teach players fundamental skills like sliding, recovering, passing, shooting, and maintaining spacing at a fast pace.

  • Setup:

    • Cages are placed on the restraining lines but face the end lines, away from the field's center.

    • Offensive players (groups of three) start near the end lines.

    • Defensive players (pairs) start off the field, on the sideline, midway between the cages at the midfield line.

  • Execution:

    • Three offensive players begin the drill by running about 60-70 yards down the field toward the cage.

    • Two defenders enter the play from the sideline as the offensive players approach.

    • Offensive players maneuver around the backside of the cage to face it and attempt to score.

    • Defenders set up to counter the offensive play, with options to cover behind or around the cage.

  • Continuation:

    • After a shot, the goalie passes to one of the waiting offensive players.

    • This player, along with two others, then drives down the field as two new defenders enter from the sideline.

    • The drill repeats in this 3V2 format, starting from behind the reversed cages, emphasizing quick transitions and continuous play.

  • Variations:

    • The drill can be adapted to include three defenders, turning it into a 3V3 for enhanced difficulty and further emphasizing communication and recognition skills.

This format keeps the practice dynamic and highly engaging, focusing on core lacrosse skills in a game-like scenario.

The objective of the 3V2 End Line Scramble Drill is to:

  1. Enhance Fundamental Skills: Improve players' abilities in passing, shooting, sliding, and recovering.

  4. Improve Conditioning: Keep players physically active and engaged, enhancing their endurance and speed.

  5. Foster Team Coordination: Enhance communication and coordination between offensive and defensive players through continuous and dynamic gameplay.
