Double mumbo pop

The term “mumbo” in lacrosse means the outside man comes in and the inside man goes out.  In a “Double Mumbo” it means it is happening on both sides. 

This is successful because it clears space for a great dodger from up while making it difficult for the team to slide.  If the defense does slide then the outlets will be open on the wings. 

Defenses will very often go into a zone on the crease to defend this, but if they do that and they stop the play the match ups will be very different when play resumes.  Which can also be very advantageous for the offense.

• Starts when the ball gets to #1 up top. 

• Once #1’s dodge begins #5 and #2 run to the crease setting a pick on #4 & #3’s man.  

• #3 and #4 will curl around to a shooting position looking for the ball

  • I use the 15 yard line so the players can understand spacing.

• If #1 does not beat his man, he will send it to the wing.

• The player on the wing has the option to shoot, send across to the other player curling around on the other side or make one more pass to the player sneaking from X.

• If the ball gets to #6 the players on the crease can be an option as well.  If they are very advanced they can re-pick for each other to get open.
