Double Crease Pick Curl Out of a 1-4-1

1. Setup:

• Ball starts with player #1 at the top.

• Position your best shooter, player #3 (righty), on the lower left side of the crease.

2. Initiate the Play:

• Player #1 begins a dodge towards the goal.

• As the dodge starts, players #4 and #5 move in to set a double pick near the crease.

3. Execution:

• Player #3 cuts under and curls around the picks, keeping hands up, ready to receive a pass.

• The movement makes it hard for the defender to follow and may force a defensive switch, potentially creating a mismatch or leaving #3 with a weaker defender.

4. Decision Points:

Option 1: Player #1 looks for a shot if the defense is confused by the activity near the crease.

Option 2: If the shot isn’t available:

• Pass directly to #3 for a shot.• Pass to #2, who quickly feeds to #3 for the shot.

5. Strategy Purpose:

• Effective when the defense is heavily focused on a single dominant player.

• Creates opportunities for mismatches and open shots by leveraging defensive confusion and movement.

6. Feedback:

• Open to feedback on improving or modifying the play.
