4 man top side rotation with 2 attack behind

I like to talk about teaching players how to play instead of teaching them plays  or a strict structure.   But still at times players need to follow a system that is unique to your team's strategy.

This works great if you have strong dodgers up top that you want to clear space for and two smart attackmen who you want to keep behind to help run the offense.

In the diagram you see the dodger sweeping across then dodging down the alley.

In both scenarios the 4 players up top are rotating with him.  You can not expect a perfect box rotation in a game unless you are using this against a zone.

Having the 4 players move in unison up top and the two players behind shift in accordance to where the ball is gives the look of different sets on the field which can confuse the slides of many defenses.

Regardless, in both examples we want the player dodging to have a clear idea of where to go with the ball if his shot is not there.

The player receiving the ball should make one more pass with the goal of reversing the field.

Remember that the best scoring opportunity is two passes away from where the dodge was initiated.  Draw the defense over and attack the weak side..
