2 cut
Formation: 5-out
Step-by-Step Execution:
Start in 5-Out Formation
5 players spaced out on the perimeter: two in the corners, two on the wings, and one up top.
Pass & Basket Cut
Player with the ball at the top passes to the wing.
After the pass, the passer makes a hard basket cut looking for a pass.
If they don’t get it, they continue through to the weak-side block.
Wing Backdoor Cut
After receiving the pass, the wing looks to pass to the cutter.
At the same time, the opposite wing pops up to the top.
As that happens, the player in the wing slot (same side) makes a backdoor cut looking for a pass.
If they don’t receive it, they stop at the ball-side block.
Corner Pop & Setup
The weak-side corner player walks their defender in, then pops out to the top of the key.
Flex Screen Action
The player who previously cut to the weak-side block now pops up to the wing.
The player at the ball-side block sets a flex screen for this cutter.
The cutter uses the screen and stops right at the rim, ready for a quick catch and finish.
Double Stagger Screen for Shooter
After the flex cut, the screen-setter turns and, with another teammate, sets a double stagger screen.
The player from the top of the key comes off this screen looking for a catch-and-shoot opportunity on the opposite wing.
Why It Works:
Combines familiar actions like pass-and-cut and backdoor movement to keep defenders guessing.
Ends with two scoring options: a flex cut for a layup and a stagger screen for a jumper.
Uses continuous movement and timing, making it hard to guard without switching or excellent communication.
